Johannesberg

Just a short note. We're here. Three hours from Christchurch to Sydney then "our"plane broke down and we were an hour and a half late leaving. Then 14 hours in the air. Something like 19 hours all up. Never again.
I asked one of the cabin blokes for arrival cards and he told me we didn't need them now into South Africa. But then, just before landing, he said over the p.a. that they'd changed their minds again and would be passing out cards. Unhuh, said I.
Then there was no aerobridge - so it was a bus with one broken door to the terminal. But boy what a surprise that was. Electronic everything. Great lighting and decor, for those of you who know, it was nearly as good as Singapore. Astonishing.
Our Abercrombie and Kent bloke was there to meet us and took us to the pub. The Westcliff, if you want to look it up.
I left my power cord behind for the computer, so I've just borrowed one from the concierge. Then it's into town to buy one.
Freezing cold here. A wind off the antarctic. Clear skies.
Well, this is by way of being another test.
Peter Uhlin and Chris tell me it's possible to be a "follower" of this blog. I've asked Pete how to do it for the benefit of any of you out there. Apparently, you recceive automatic notification when there's an update. I'll still be sending the email, tho.
Well, it begins.......

  1. Great to hear you are there. It wouldn't be a Mal Walker trip if it wasn't for a little drama somewhere along the way.
